A wardrobe in a dry bedroom has a different requirement from a kitchen cabinet beside a sink. Start with the use case before choosing a grade.
Kitchens
Kitchen units should be assessed for water, steam, cleaning and plumbing exposure. Discuss moisture-resistant grades, edge protection and the construction details around sinks and wet zones.
Wardrobes
Wardrobes in dry rooms may use a practical interior grade when they are protected from direct water. Thickness and support spacing are important for shelves, shutters and long spans.
Furniture and cabinets
Furniture bodies, partitions and shelves should be specified by load, finish and joinery as well as grade. MDF may suit smooth painted details, while plywood can suit applications where layered construction and screw holding matter.
Specification checklist
- Name the application and room.
- Describe moisture exposure and cleaning conditions.
- Specify thickness, sheet size and finish.
- Confirm edge treatment, support spacing and quantity.
A clear application brief helps architects, designers, contractors and retailers compare suitable options without selecting by brand name alone.
